Create Productions

When you are ready to create Productions or Production Orders from Production Plans, you can do so in two ways:
  • To create Productions or Production Orders from a single Production Plan, open the Production Plan in a record window and select 'Productions' from the Create menu.

  • To create Productions or Production Orders from several Production Plans, use the 'Create Productions' Maintenance function.
In both cases, separate new Productions or Production Orders will be created for each row in a Production Plan. To decide whether Productions or Production Orders will be created, use the Generate Planned options in the Production Settings setting in the Production module.

If you need to see a list of the Items that will be included in the Productions or Production Orders that will be created by this function together with quantities and dates, produce a Create Productions - Preview report.

Please refer to the description of the 'Productions' Create menu function here for details about what will be copied to a new Production or Production Order from a Production Plan row, and about how the Production Plan row will be updated.

When you select the function, the 'Specify Create Productions' window will open:

Period
Paste Special    Reporting Periods setting, System module
Productions or Production Orders will be created from Production Plan rows whose Start Dates fall within the period that you specify here.

Include
Use these options to specify whether Productions or Production Orders should be created from Production Plans that have been marked as OK, from Production Plans that have not been marked as OK or both. If you choose the Not OKed option, Production Plans will be marked as OK automatically as part of the process.
When the specification window is complete, click (Windows/Mac OS X) or tap (iOS/Android) the [Run] button to activate the function. The relevant Productions or Production Orders will be created and placed in the Production or Production Order registers in the Production module.

If the function does not create Productions or Production Orders when expected, the probable reasons are:

  1. A Production Plan has been marked as Closed.

  2. You have already created a Production or Production Order from a Production Plan row (i.e. the Prod. No. field on flip C of the row already contains a Production or Production Order Number).

  3. You have logged in as a user that is not permitted to create Productions or Production Orders from Production Plans. This will be because your Person record belongs to an Access Group in which access to the 'OK Production Plan' Action has been denied. This Action prevents the creation of Productions or Production Orders because doing so will cause the Production Plan to be marked as OK automatically.

  4. There is no valid record in the Number Series - Productions or Number Series - Production Orders settings. This problem will usually occur at the beginning of a new year.
