Recording and Playing Sounds from a Record Window

As with all records in standard HansaWorld Enterprise registers, you will be able to use the Attachments feature with any record in a SmartApps register. Using the [Attachments] button with the paper clip icon in the top right-hand corner of each record window, you can attach files and notes to a record.

If the register is one where it is likely that sound files will be attached to each record, you can add an area to the record window so you can play any sound files (they must be .wav files). If a record window contains such an attachment area, the Options menu for the tab on the Nokia E90 will contain extra functions, allowing you to record sounds using the phone's microphone. These sounds will be attached to the record automatically.

In the example, we will add this area to a new card 4. Follow these steps:

  1. As described on the Adding Cards to a Record Window page, add a fifth "tile" row in the Window Definition, to specify that the record window contains a card 4.

Enter 4 in the Tile column, to specify that the "tile" row refers to card 4, and specify an appropriate Height and a Label for the tab button.

  2. Under the "tile" row for card 4, add a new row with Type "sound tool". With this row, you are defining an area in the record window that will display attachments (usually photographs). You therefore need to position this area using the H and V columns, and specify the size of the area using the Width and Height columns:

The "sound tool" line will place an icon on the 'Sounds' card. Use H and V to specify where this icon will be placed, but there is no need to specify a Width or Height.

This is how the new card will appear:
