Exporting an App

Having created an App, a register and record and browse windows, the App is now complete. You can now transfer it to your other desktop computers and Nokia E90s either by export/import or by synchronisation. To export an App, follow these steps—
  1. Click the [Apps] button in the Master Control panel. The 'SmartApps: Browse' window opens.

  2. Find the App in the list and open it.

  3. Choose 'Export' from the Operations menu.

  4. You will be asked to name the export file and to specify where you want it to be saved. Enter the name of the file in the filename area and locate it in the appropriate directory in the usual way. Then, click [Save].
The App itself will be exported, and so will any Register, Window and Report Definitions that have the App's UUID in their App fields. If you discover that a Register, Window or Report Definition has not been included in the export file when expected, the probable reason is that its App field is empty or contains the wrong UUID. Any example data in the App will not be exported. If you want to transfer data in an App, use synchronisation.

To import the App and its components to another database, use the procedure described on the Importing Information to an App page. This procedure, although described on that page as being used to import information into an App, can also be used to import the App itself.
