Project Classes - Assisted Tag/Object Entry

If you have assigned one or more Tag/Object Types to a Project Class (on flip C of the Project Classes window), an Assisted Tag/Object Entry feature will be activated automatically. This will help you choose the correct Tags/Objects when entering Projects, as follows:
  1. On flip C of the Project Classes window, there is a Tag/Object Type field. If you enter a Tag/Object Type (or several Types separated by commas) in this field, you will then have to specify a Tag/Object belonging to that Type or Types in every Project that you have assigned to the Class. For example, all Projects belonging to the first Class in the illustration below must have Tags/Objects belonging to the DEPT and PROJ Tag/Object Types:

  2. Enter a new Project and assign it to the Class:

  3. From the Tag/Object field, activate the 'Paste Special' feature as usual. Instead of the usual 'Paste Special' list, the 'Assisted Tag/Object Entry' window opens.

As the example Project Class requires Tags/Objects belonging to two different Tag/Object Types, the 'Assisted Tag/Object Entry' window has two fields, one for each required Tag/Object Type. (The maximum number of Tag/Object Types that can be required by a particular Project Class is seven.)

If no Tag/Object Types had been specified for the Project Class, the normal 'Paste Tag/Object' window would open instead of the 'Assisted Tag/Object Entry' window.

  4. Using 'Paste Special' from each of the fields in the usual way, enter a Tag/Object belonging to each Type in the appropriate field. 'Paste Special' here will only list the Tags/Objects belonging to the Type in question. Use the Extras field if you want to add another Tag/Object belonging to a third Type.

  5. If you close the 'Assisted Tag/Object Entry' window using the [OK] button, the Tags/Objects will be added to anything previously in the Tag/Object field, providing you typed a comma after the previous Tag/Object before activating 'Paste Special'. If you use the [Replace] button, the Tags/Objects will replace anything that was previously in the Tag/Object field.
