Project Classifications

This page describes the Project Classifications setting in the Job Costing module.

---

Together with Project Classes, you can use Project Classifications to classify Projects. The important difference between the Classification and the Class is that you can allocate several Project Classifications to each Project (separated using commas), but only one Project Class. However, the Project Class is more often used as a search criteria for reports and Maintenance functions.

To work with Project Classifications, first use the [Switch Module] button in the Navigation Centre to ensure you are in the Job Costing module. Then, if you are using Windows or macOS, click the [Settings] button, also in the Navigation Centre, and double-click 'Project Classifications' in the resulting list. If you are using iOS or Android, select 'Settings' from the Tools menu (with 'wrench' icon) and tap 'Project Classifications' in the 'Settings' list. The 'Project Classifications: Browse' window opens, listing the Project Classifications that you have already entered:

To enter a new Project Classification, select 'New' from the Create menu (Windows/macOS) or the + menu (iOS/Android). The 'Project Classification: New' window appears: enter the Code, Comment and Classification Type as appropriate and click [Save] (Windows/macOS) or tap √ (iOS/Android) to save the new record. You can use the 'Paste Special' function from the Classification Type field to bring up a selection list.

You can make sure that every Project will be given a Classification belonging to a particular Classification Type. For details, please refer to the description of flip B of the Project Classes setting here.
