Creating Project Transactions

Please refer to the following pages for details about creating Project Transactions from various registers:
If a Project is a long-term one, it may be the case that work will be carried out significantly in advance of the Invoice being issued. This may mean that costs of sales are recorded in a different period to the sale. To avoid this issue, when the costs are incurred, you can have them posted as work in progress. Work in progress will be posted whenever a Project Transaction is created (with the exception that work in progress will not be posted from Time Sheets). When you issue the Invoice, the work in progress postings will be reversed. Please refer to the description of the Use WIP option on the 'Invoicing' card of the Project window for details.

You can specify that only the Members of a Project will be able to enter records that will cause Project Transactions to be created (list the Members of each Project on the 'Members' card of each Project record) To do this, assign every member of staff to an Access Group in which you have granted Full access to the 'Disallow Posting Project actuals if not Project Member' Action. If there are any members of staff who are exceptions to this rule (i.e. any members of staff who should be able to enter records that will cause Project Transactions to be created while not being Project Members), do not grant them Full access to the 'Disallow Posting Project actuals if not Project Member' Action.
