External Mail - Encoding

All emails are encoded to protect special characters in the text. This allows the recipient to read these characters as they were written. By default, Standard ERP uses the ISO-8859-1 (Western European) encoding standard. If you need to use a different encoding standard, you should specify this in the Default Mail Encoding field in the Company Info setting in the System module ('Fonts' card). For example, users in Russia should enter "koi8-r" to this field. This should be done on the main server. Please refer to your local HansaWorld representative for further information.

While in the Company Info setting, you should set the DB Encoding field to "mac" (all lower case) if the server uses a PowerPC processor (e.g. AS/400, AIX, zSeries). If the server is Intel-based, you should leave this field blank. This should be done on the main server.
