Room Status

This page describes the Room Status setting in the Hotel module.

---

At all times each Room will have a Status that signifies whether it is available for checking in. The Status of a Room will be updated automatically whenever a Guest checks in or out and when the Room is cleaned.

The Room Status setting allows you to define each Status yourself. As a minimum, you should enter two records in this setting: one Status that will be assigned to a Room to signify that it is available for checking in; and one Status that will signify that a Room has just been vacated and needs to be cleaned so is not immediately available. An option is to enter a third Status that you can assign to a Room that will not be available for a longer term (e.g. a Room that is being decorated).

After defining Room Statuses, you should use the Available Status, Dirty Status and, optionally, Closed Status fields on the 'Reservation Status' card in the Hotel Settings setting to specify which Room Status is to be used in each situation.

To open the Room Status setting, first ensure you are in the Hotel module. Then, if you are using Windows or macOS, click the [Settings] button in the Navigation Centre or use the Ctrl-S/⌘-S keyboard shortcuts and then double-click 'Room Status' in the 'Settings' list. If you are using iOS or Android, select 'Settings' from the Tools menu (with 'wrench' icon) and tap 'Room Status' in the 'Settings' list. The 'Room Status: Browse' window will open, listing the Room Status records that you have previously entered.

To enter a new Room Status record, select 'New' from the Create menu (Windows/macOS) or the + menu (iOS/Android) in the Button Bar. The 'Room Status: New' window appears: enter a Code and Comment as appropriate and click [Save] (Windows/macOS) or tap √ (iOS/Android) to save the new record.
