The Contact register and the Jewellery module

This page describes the changes that will be made in the Contact register when you activate the Jewellery module.

Many Customers of a jewellery retail store will be private individuals. For easier data entry and consistency, activating the Jewellery module will cause separate fields for a Customer's First and Last Name to be added to the header of the Contact record window. The Name field will be re-named "Display Name": when you save the Contact record for a new Customer for the first time, a Display Name in the format 'Last Name, First Name' will be brought in automatically (providing you have not already specified a Display Name yourself). This will ensure that the Display Names of each Customer will be saved in a consistent format. Title and Suffix fields will also be added to the header, with the Suffix field allowing you to specify suffixes such as Jr (Junior) or Sr (Senior) if needed. Finally, the existing Salesman field and the No Mass Letters and No Mass Emailing check boxes will be added to the header.

In the 'Contacts: Browse' window, the Contact, Department, VAT Reg No and Bank Acc columns will be replaced by Mobile, Email and Address 1. This will help distinguish between Customers with similar names.
