Creating Activities from the Calendar

To create an Activity from the Calendar, click the [New Activity] button (Windows/Mac OS X) or tap the [+] button (iOS/Android) in any Calendar view to enter a new Activity record. The Task Type in the new Activity will be Calendar, and the Symbol will be Other. The Person(s) in the Persons field of the Calendar view will be copied to the Persons field of the Activity. Please refer to the description of the Activity Register for full details.

Producing the Personal Calendar report from the Calendar

To produce the Personal Calendar report from the Calendar, click the [Report] button (Windows/Mac OS X) or select 'Report' from the Tools menu (with 'wrench' icon) (iOS/Android) in any Calendar view.

Week Numbers in the Calendar

If dashes appear instead of Week Numbers in any of your Calendar views, the probable cause is that there is no record in the Weeks setting in the System module, or the record that is there is incomplete. In the latter case, if you have already added the current year to the Weeks record and the dashes in the Calendar remain, it is recommended that you delete the existing record and enter a new one, ensuring that the Country Code entered in the Weeks record is the same as that on the 'Reg' card of the Company Info setting.

The Gregorian and Hijri Calendars

The Hijri lunar calendar is commonly used in many Muslim countries, especially Saudi Arabia.

If you need the Hijri calendar to be used throughout the system, select "Hijri - Arabic" as the Date Order in the Company Date and Numeric Format setting in the System module:

The "Hijri - Arabic" option will only be available if the VAT Law in the Company Info setting is "Saudi Arabia".

Selecting the "Hijri - Arabic" option will have the following consequences:

  • All dates throughout the system will be Hijri.

  • The 'Paste Date' window will use the Hijri calendar:

  • The Calendar will display years, months and days in Hijri:

Individual users can override the system default. For example, if the "Hijri - Arabic" option has been selected in the Company Date and Numeric Format setting, an individual user can choose to use another option such as "Day, Month, Year". If the user has access to the Person register, they can choose the option that they need on the 'Formats' card of their Person record. They should select the Use Person's settings option as well. The option that is selected will be used for that user, irrespective of the client machine they are working on.

You can also specify that a different calendar format is to be used on a particular client machine, irrespective of the user. To do this, select a Date Order in the Client Date and Numeric Format setting in the User Settings module while you are working on the client machine in question. Don't forget to select the Use Client settings option as well.

If you need to be able to use both the Gregorian and the Hijri calendar systems in the Calendar, follow the steps listed below. The illustrations assume that the default format is Gregorian (i.e. that "Hijri - Arabic" has not been selected in the Company Date and Numeric Format setting).

  1. Change to the Calendar module, open the Calendar Options setting and select the Allow Many Calendar Types option:

  2. You may need to close the Standard ERP client and restart to see the full effects of selecting the Allow Many Calendar Types option. There is no need to restart the server.

  3. The Allow Many Calendar Types option will add an Operations menu to the monthly view (Tools menu with 'wrench' icon if you are using iOS or Android). This menu will contain options that you can use to switch between the Gregorian and Hijri calendars:

  4. Select the 'Hijri' option if you need the Calendar to use the Hijri system:

  5. The 'Gregorian' and 'Hijri' options will also be added to the existing Operations or Tools menu in the Overview:
