You should also have defined a journal number series for Payments using the Number Series - Payments setting. You can adjust other settings as you go along. To open the Payment register, first ensure you are in the Purchase Ledger or Cash Book module. Then, if you are using Windows or Mac OS X, click the [Registers] button in the Navigation Centre and double-click 'Payments' in the resulting list. If you are using iOS or Android, tap the [Registers] button in the Navigation Centre and then tap 'Payments' in the 'Registers' list. The 'Payments: Browse' window will be opened, listing the Payments that you have already entered. If you need Payments to pass through an approval process before you can mark them as Ordered and OK and you have configured such a process using the Approval Rules register in the Business Alerts module, an extra column that displays the Approval Status of each Payment will be added to the 'Payments: Browse' window. Please refer to the description of the Approval Status field on the 'Bank' card for brief details about the approval process and here for full details. To enter a new Payment, select 'New' from the Create menu in the Button Bar (Windows/Mac OS X) or the + menu (iOS/Android). You can also use the Ctrl-N (Windows) or ⌘-N (Mac OS X) keyboard shortcut. Alternatively, highlight a Payment similar to the one you want to enter and select 'Duplicate' from the same menu. If you don't want to open the 'Payments: Browse' window before creating a new record, you can also use the + menu in the Navigation Centre (all platforms). The 'Payment: New' window will be opened, empty if you selected 'New' or containing a duplicate of the highlighted Payment. The principle for entering a Payment is that you know the following facts:
Complete the Payment record as appropriate and as described on the following pages, then save it using the [Save] button (Windows/Mac OS X) or by tapping √ (iOS/Android) and close the window by clicking the close box (Windows/Mac OS X) or by tapping < (iOS/Android). Then, close the browse window using the close box or < again. Standard ERP contains several shortcuts that you can use to help simplify your work entering Payments. You can for example bring a date into a date field using the 'Paste Special' function (Windows users should press Ctrl-Enter, Mac OS X users ⌘-Enter). You can also use this function to help choose the Purchase Invoices or Suppliers you are paying, or the Payment Mode (i.e. payment method) you want to use, etc. By clicking or tapping the tabs you can navigate between the cards, and always go directly to a certain card. The header is always visible, so you can always see which Payment you are working with. If you are using iOS or Android, the cards will be named 'Items' and 'Details': tap the 'Items' tab to go to the 'Payments' card. --- The Payment register in Standard ERP:
