Create Menu - Production Plan - Productions

This page describes the 'Productions' function on the Create menu in the Production Plan record window. If you are using iOS or Android, the 'Productions' function is on the + menu.

---

When you are ready to create Productions or Production Orders from a Production Plan, open the Production Plan in a record window and select 'Productions' from the Create menu. Separate new Productions or Production Orders will be created for each row in the Production Plan.

As it is likely that several Productions or Production Orders will be created from a single Production Plan, they will not be opened for checking when you run the function. An easy way to find the resulting Productions or Production Orders from the Production Plan is to use the 'Production Plan Info' function on the Operations menu.

If you need to see a list of the Items that will be included in the Productions or Production Orders that will be created by this function together with quantities and dates, produce a Create Productions - Preview report.

To decide whether Productions or Production Orders will be created, use the Generate Planned options in the Production Settings setting in the Production module.

If you have specified that Productions will be created, the following information will copied to a Production from the originating Production Plan row:

  • The Recipe in the Production Plan row will be copied to the Production, and this will determine the components listed in the Production.

  • The Start Date in the Production Plan row will be copied to the Start Date field in the Production header.

  • The Needed Date in the Production Plan row will be copied to the End Date field in the Production header.

  • The Adjusted Qty in the Production Plan row or, if blank, the Suggested Qty will be copied to the Qty field in the Production header (divided by the Output Qty in the Recipe if necessary).
If you have specified that Production Orders will be created, the following information will copied to a Production Order from the originating Production Plan row:
  • The Recipe in the Production Plan row will be copied to the Production Order, and this will determine the components listed in the Production Order.

  • The Start Date in the Production Plan row will be copied to the Should Start field in the Production Order header and to the Start Date field on the 'Actual Time' card.

  • The Needed Date in the Production Plan row will be copied to the Due Date field in the Production Order header.

  • The Adjusted Qty in the Production Plan row or, if blank, the Suggested Qty will be copied to the Qty field in the Production Order header (divided by the Output Qty in the Recipe if necessary).
The Production Plan will be marked as OK if this has not already been done, and the relevant Production or Production Order Numbers will be copied to the Prod. No. field on flip C.

If the function does not create Productions or Production Orders when expected, the probable reasons are:

  1. You have not saved the Production Plan.

  2. The Production Plan has been marked as Closed.

  3. You have already created Productions or Production Orders from the Production Plan (you can ascertain this by checking the Prod. No. field on flip C of each row or using the 'Production Plan Info' function on the Operations menu).

  4. You have logged in as a user that is not permitted to create Productions or Production Orders from Production Plans. This will be because your Person record belongs to an Access Group in which access to the 'OK Production Plan' Action has been denied. This Action prevents the creation of Productions or Production Orders because doing so will cause the Production Plan to be marked as OK automatically.

  5. There is no valid record in the Number Series - Productions or Number Series - Production Orders settings. This problem will usually occur at the beginning of a new year.
If you need to create Productions or Production Orders from several Production Plans at once, use the 'Create Productions' Maintenance function.
