Creating a Report Generator Report - Printing Information from Matrices - Linking the Register and its Matrix

This page describes linking a register to its matrix in a Report Generator report. Please refer here for details about adding a matrix to the report.

---

When you linked the primary and secondary registers in a Report Generator report as described here, you established the link by carrying out a search in the secondary register to find records related to the current record in the primary register (e.g. you needed to search for Invoices belonging to each Customer). When linking a register and its matrix, you don't need to carry out a similar search. For example, if you include the Invoice register and its matrix in a report, the correct Invoice rows will be connected to the "mother" Invoice automatically. Specifying the mother record in the 'Matrix Rows' dialogue box is sufficient to establish the link.
