Change Project Currency

This page describes the 'Change Project Currency' Maintenance function in the Job Costing module.

The 'Change Project Currency' function allows you to change the Currency in a specified Project. The Currency in any connected Project Budget and Project Transactions will also be changed, and the following figures will be converted to the new Currency using the current Exchange Rate:

  • the Price and Sum in each Project Budget row and the totals in the Project Budget footer.

  • the Price, Markup, Sum, Cost and GP in Currency in each Project Transaction.
Multi-Currency support was added to the Job Costing module in version 6.1. A Project that was entered to your database prior to that version will not have a Currency, and it will not be possible to change that Project (e.g. to change the Status to Finished) because of the missing Currency. This function allows you to add a Currency to that Project. All records connected to that Project (e.g. Invoices) will be in your home Currency so you will usually need to add your home Currency to such a Project.

Because one of the purposes of this function is to add a Currency to old Projects that previously did not have Currencies, some checks are absent. For example, the Currency will be added to Project Transactions that have already been invoiced, and you will be able to assign a Currency that is not the Customer's Sales Currency to a Project. Therefore, take care when using this function to change the Currency in a Project that already has a Currency.

Project
Paste Special    Project register, Job Costing module
To change the Currency in a particular Project, enter its Project Number here. You must enter a Project Number, otherwise the function will have no effect.

New Project Currency
Paste Special     Currency register, System module
Specify the new Currency here. This Currency will be copied to the Project, and to the connected Project Budget and Project Transactions, together with the current Exchange Rate. The prices in the Project Budget and Project Transactions will be converted.
