Inspection Status

This page describes the Inspection Status setting in the Rental module.

The Rental Item Inspection register allows you to implement a system of quality inspections for use with Rental Items when they are returned from a period of rental.

After carrying out an Inspection, you should enter a Result in the Rental Item Inspection record, mark it as OK and save. The Result should be the Code of a record in this Inspection Status setting. The New Rental Item Status that you have specified in the Inspection Status record will be copied to the Current Status field in the Rental Item that you are inspecting.

The Inspection Status setting is the same setting as the Batch Status setting in the Service Orders module. You will therefore see the same records listed in browse windows when you open the Inspection Status setting in the Rental module and when you open the Batch Status setting in the Service Orders module. However, the Inspection Status record window is simpler than the Batch Status inspect window as it contains fewer fields.

Code
Enter the unique code by which the Inspection Status record is to be identified from elsewhere in Standard ERP. You can use up to twenty alpha-numeric characters.

Comment
Enter a descriptive name for the Inspection Status record. This will be shown in the 'Inspection Status: Browse' window and the 'Paste Special' list and so should be clear enough to make the selection of the correct Inspection Status easy for all users.

New Rental Item Status
Paste Special    Choices of possible entries
Specify the Status that you would like to be copied to the relevant Rental Item record when you save a Rental Item Inspection record with the Inspection Status as its Result and that you have marked as OK.

Create Service Order
Select this option if you would like a Service Order to be created automatically when you save a Rental Item Inspection record with the Inspection Status as its Result and that you have marked as OK.
