Batch Quality Settings
This page introduces the Batch Quality Control feature in Standard ERP. This feature uses the following settings:

Standard ERP allows you to control the sale of perishable goods and of goods that require quality control testing. This control can be on one of two levels:
- You can control the sale of Items based on their Best Before Dates.
- You can control the sale of Items using quality control tests.
Controlling the sale of Items based on their Best Before Dates requires the following configuration work:
- You can only use Best Before Dates with Items that have Serial Numbers at the unit or batch level. Each Best Before Date will be connected to an individual unit or batch Serial Number. The first step is therefore to ensure that you have specified in the Item register that each Item requiring Best Before Dates is a Serial Numbered Item.
- An Item/Serial Number with a Best Before Date might have a life cycle with several stages. In an example life cycle with three stages, you will at first be able to sell the Serial Number freely As the Best Before Date approaches, you may wish to be warned about this when you sell the Serial Number. When the Best Before Date has passed, you should be prevented from selling the Serial Number. For each stage, you should assign a status to the Serial Number that will determine whether it can be sold and if so whether a warning will be shown. Use the Batch Status setting in the Service Orders module to define these statuses.

- When you deliver or sell an Item with a Serial Number, you can use 'Paste Special' to choose the Serial Number. If you would like the Best Before Date and or Batch Status of each Serial Number to be shown in the 'Paste Special' list, select the Show Best Before Dates and/or Show Batch Status options respectively in the Item Settings setting in the Sales Ledger.
To control the sale of Items using quality control tests, follow points 1 and 2 above (and optionally point 3) and these additional steps. All the settings mentioned are in the Service Orders module:
- Use the Batch Quality Control Tests setting to list the tests that can be carried out by the quality control department.

- Each Item will require different Tests or sets of Tests. Use the Batch Quality Control Templates setting to create each set of Tests.

- When you carry out a test, you will record the result in a record in the Batch Quality Control setting. When you create a Batch Quality Control record, you will specify a Batch Quality Control Template (step 5) that will display the tests that you need to carry out.
You will be able to create a Batch Quality Control record from various other records (e.g. from Goods Receipts and Returned Goods). When you do so, a Batch Quality Control Template will be brought in automatically. Use the Batch Quality Control Rules setting to specify which Batch Quality Control Template will be brought in. As well as depending on the Item, you may need to carry out different tests depending on the circumstance. For example, different tests may be required when you receive an Item into stock and when a Customer returns an Item. Using the Batch Quality Control Rules setting, you can ensure that different Templates will be used, depending on how you create a Batch Quality Control record.
