Room Classifications

This page describes the Room Classifications setting in the Hotel module.

---

Together with Room Types, you can use Room Classifications to classify Rooms. You must specify a Room Type for each Room, but specifying Room Classifications is optional. You can allocate several Room Classifications to each Room, but only one Room Type. A typical use for Classifications will be to record features about particular Rooms that Guests might request, such as rooms where smoking is allowed, rooms with sea views, rooms with wheelchair access etc.

After defining your Room Classifications, you can assign them to your Rooms using the Classification field on the 'Class' card of each Room record. This field can contain one or more Room Classifications, separated by commas.

You can use the Room Classification as a search criterion in the 'Month Overview of Room Types' and the 'Overview Rooms' windows (the Resource Planner windows) and in many reports.

To work with Room Classifications, first use the [Switch Module] button in the Navigation Centre to ensure you are in the Hotel module. Then, if you are using Windows or macOS, click the [Settings] button, also in the Navigation Centre, and double-click 'Room Classifications' in the resulting list. If you are using iOS or Android, select 'Settings' from the Tools menu (with 'wrench' icon) and tap 'Room Classifications' in the 'Settings' list. The 'Room Classifications: Browse' window opens, listing the Room Classifications that you have already entered:

To enter a new Room Classification, select 'New' from the Create menu (Windows/macOS) or the + menu (iOS/Android). The 'Room Classification: New' window appears: enter the Code, Comment and Room Classification Type as appropriate and click [Save] (Windows/macOS) or tap √ (iOS/Android) to save the new record. You can use the 'Paste Special' function from the Classification Type field to bring up a selection list (listing the records in the Room Classification Types setting).
